Guatemala has the fourth highest rate of chronic malnutrition in the world and the highest in Latin America and the Caribbean. Chronic malnutrition affects about half of the nation’s children under the age of 5.
A pastor of mine once made note of the fact that Jesus Christ did not reach down into the gutter to help those in need. Jesus got down in the gutter with them. This might also be a way to describe the in-the-streets mission of the The Hope Movement.
The Hope Movement, a gathering of destined individuals and organizations united as one whose participants have dedicated their lives to the rescue and care of children and adults living in desperate need and dedicated to reaching out to those who are longing for love, is now in need of help itself.
The Hope Movement describes its mission as one to “unite social organizations, churches, ministries, and individuals together as one in a movement of hope, shaking them from their comfort zone, inspiring them to reach out to those who are reaching out to us”. The Hope Movement defends and cares for abused and abandoned children embracing them with arms of love. And strives to “break the chains of modern-day slavery, setting the captives free.”
The Hope Movement empowers people through education, helps to create a cycle of positive change in the lives of the people they touch and works to stabilize the family structure, break the cycle of abuse and stop child neglect while preaching a message of hope to “everyone in our path opening their eyes to see their life’s purpose, being the voice and the hands of God, transforming communities into havens of hope.”
It’s a staggering task of immeasurable proportions that is done in the name of Christ, with Christ and through Christ.
One of the Hope Movement’s ministries, The Haven of Hope in Guatemala is in immediate need of your help. My Facebook friend, Jonathan Roiz who is the Founder, Executive Director and a Missionary for the Hope Movement sent me a note today describing the need for The Haven of Hope in Guatemala.
“Help me save our program in Guatemala called the Haven of Hope Outreach Center. I just received news that The Hope Movement will not be renewed for a $10,000 grant due to lack of funding, our budget to operate this program which benefits many children is only $15,000 annually. We were depending on this grant to keep the center open, but now the center in jeopardy of closing because of lack of funding.
“Please take a moment to share this information with your friends and encourage them to give any amount to help us reach our goal by the end of May to save this program and save the lives of many children. The Haven of Hope Outreach Center is the only outreach in the third largest city of Guatemala which is rescuing children from the streets and human trafficking, providing nourishment, education and hope for a brighter tomorrow.
“A tax deductible donation of as little as $5 can make a difference. Please take a moment now and share this information with your friends and if you can give a gift for as little as $5 I would really appreciate it. The price of a latte can save a life. If no one helps in this effort, children will have no place to go and will end up on the streets. PLEASE HELP US! OUR CHILDREN NEED YOU!
“Donations can be given online at www.hopemovement.com/give.html or by mail at 17000 North Bay Road, Suite 808, Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160.
“Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Thank you for your help, I appreciate you from the bottom of my heart.”

It is important for them not to develop a mentality of dependence, but an understanding that assistance is a guide for them to escape the bondage of poverty, that poverty is not their destiny, it is only an obstacle to overcome to make their dreams into a reality,” – Hope Movement website.
