Project Nourishment
The Problem: Hunger
There are 1.02 billion undernourished people in the world today. That means one in nearly six people do not get enough food to be healthy and lead an active life. Hunger and malnutrition are in fact the number one risk to the health worldwide — greater than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. Hunger does not only weigh on the individual. It also imposes a crushing economic burden on the developing world. Economists estimate that every child whose physical and mental development is stunted by hunger and malnutrition stands to lose 5-10 percent in lifetime earnings.
Solution
Project Nourishment
MannaPackTM is a nutritionally balanced food product specifically developed for malnourished and starving children. It's a combination of carbohydrates, protein, fat and fiber and includes 25 essential vitamins and minerals sealed in an airtight packet. MannaPackTM is generously donated to The Hope Movement by Feed My Starving Children Ministries and hand-packed by their dedicated and hard-working volunteers and The Hope Movement is only responsible for shipping expenses.
Food Production and Distribution
The Hope Movement is also developing our own food production and distribution center which will develop a food mixture that would be easy and safe to transport, simple to make with only boiling water, and culturally acceptable worldwide. With our farm in Guatemala the Hope Movement is able to produce food for our feeding programs at a fraction of the cost, and also package and distribute food supplies to our partners in the Hope Movement Alliance throughout Latin America and other parts of the world.
In non-emergency situations, Individuals or families receive credits to use to per month according to family size. We focus on not only feeding people physically but also emotionally and spiritually, for we long to see their dignity and self-esteem restored. We have developed a four-month credit system so that people do not become dependent on food distribution and at the time receive emotional and spiritual nourishment through education and counseling programs. After the first month, the number of credits decreases by 25% each month. However, additional credits may be earned by committing to community service, attending classes that are offered, or regular attendance at the church of their choice.
Feeding Center
The Hope Movement is partnering with and developing local feeding programs to provide thousands of nutritional meals monthly to the most volunerable.
Project Nourishment
Food is packaged, shipped and distributed to our nationwide partners who are involved in the Hope Movement Alliance. Each 40’ food container provides life-saving nourishment to over 200,000 people nationwide, while at the same time providing education and counseling in order to break the cycle of hunger and poverty.
