Sexual Immorality Defiles the Church, SO KILL it!

If you are living with someone who is not your spouse, having sex outside of marriage, watching pornography, lust which is adultery of the heart, adultery, homosexuality, etc. and call yourself a Christian you must repent and turn from your sin. Don't try to justify it, or twist Scriptures, the Word of God is clear. Those living in sexual immorality will not inherit the kingdom of God. In fact, the Bible says that if a professing believer does not repent of their sin and turn from it they must be purged from the body of Christ. This is the most loving thing a congregation can do, as we pray it will be a wake-up call and that the person would truly repent and truly believe and return to the fellowship of the church and live the Christian life of holiness.

In 1 Corinthians 5 vs 1 Paul says "It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, for a man has his father's wife. 2 And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you.

The word used in Greek for sexual immorality is πορνείᾳ (porneia), the word where the modern word porn is derived, meaning fornication and whoredom. This word πορνείᾳ also derives from the Greek word περνώ (pernaō) meaning a selling off (surrendering) of sexual purity; promiscuity of any (every) type. How dare a professing Christian boast in their sin or allow on-going sin in the church. We should mourn our sin and the sin of others, call them to repentance and if they refuse remove them from church to maintain the church pure. This is not a suggestion but a Biblical command. The church is the body of Christ, a believers meeting.

In 1 Corinthians 6 Paul goes on to say in vs 9 "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

Paul is attacking our pride, our neglect of Scriptures, our thinking that with grace we can remain in sin. He reminds them they were once all these things, and if it were not for the grace of God to save you, you would of remained dead in sin without hope of access to the kingdom of God. In vs 11, he says "11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." You were once these things, but you better not still be doing these things. A true Christian is being washed of his sin through the work of the Holy Spirit in sanctification. If you remain in sin, most likely you are not in Christ.

Then in vs 15 he says "Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. 18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body."

We are the body of Christ, the bride of Christ. Marriage is symbolic for the relationship between Christ and the church (Ephesians 5). How can the body of Christ become one with sexual sin. He demands purity. In vs 18-19 it is said "18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?" Our bodies are the temple of Spirit of God, how can we be so prideful and selfish to defile the temple of God?

Then he closes at the end of vs 19-20 "You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body."

If you are a professing Christian and are living in sexual sin you have three options.

1. REPENT AND TURN FROM YOUR SIN  2. BE PURGED FROM THE CHURCH UNTIL THERE IS TRUE REPENTANCE  3. STOP CALLING YOURSELF A CHRISTIAN
